Amazon.com Review
Zowie! Amazing Allysen really is, well, amazing! This large (20 inches tall) blonde doll is programmed to use memory, voice recognition, and sensory technology to interact with her playmates. She asks questions ("What’s your favorite smoothie flavor?") and "remembers" the answers, so that later she can slip it in to casual conversation. (Hey, sounds like she’d make a good politician…) When you fix up her hair, she knows whether you’re using the headband or barrettes. She chats on her cell phone with pals, and involves you in the discussion (for example, is it time to change her ring tone?). She knows the date and time (after she’s been programmed, of course), and will wish you a happy birthday or remind you when it’s time for a snack. Check out horoscopes with Allysen, play Truth or Dare, take personality or fashion tips quizzes, dress her up, console her when she’s sad, discuss dreams, share your fave songs with her… Her face will even register emotions, albeit a bit stilted (she is a plastic doll, after all). Allysen is dressed like a wholesome, perky pre-teen in jeans, pink quilted vest, and purple flowered shirt, and she comes with hair accessories, cell phone, magazine, smoothie, heart-shaped charm, and How to Play guide. Requires three "AAA" batteries and four "AA" batteries (not included).--Emilie Coulter

my hands hurt1
Cool concept and my 7 yr old likes her ok but the set up is TEDIOUS and annoying. After both me and my husband taking turns squeezing her left hand till our hurt we finally got a set of pliers and used that to squeeze. This doll has trouble understanding our words and to reset the neck name it says to squeeze both hands for 10 seconds so pliers in hand we attempted this and low and behold allyson fell asleep so my daughter in annoyingly called "pickles" i mean what the heck!!!! I only paid 20.00 for this doll including 3 of her acessory packs so i dont feel to bad but she is barely worth that price. Buy a baby annabell instead

Not worth the money IMO1
This doll is not worth the money. I got ours for 25 dollars and it wasn't even worth that. Her skin is made out of some rubbery type material that the dirt clings to and stays. I'm not talking muddy dirt. Just normal dirty hands that kids have some times. So her face ends up looking bad pretty quick. I have three girls who are NOT hard on toys. This doll broke about 2 weeks after we got her and she didn't even get played with very much. Not durable at all IMO. Its a nice idea but needs to be a little less breakable. She comes with a lot and we bought all the extra outfits too. It hard to keep all the tiny peices together. Its worth it to spend the extra money and get an american girl doll. They don't talk or anything but My kids play with these way more. They are easier to get dressed and their hair stays nice FOREVER. Plus make beleive is always good for kids! My sister bought one too and hers also broke. 2 of 2 is not a good sign.

It didn't last three months...2
Despite numerous battery changes, Allysen died a rather frightening death. First she made some really scary faces, then she just stopped, her face frozen in one of the rather creepy faces. Yes, she was somewhat fun for my daughter while she lasted, although her sensors didn't work very well. We constantly had to repeat commands, etc., and she would just say, "Wha...?" Also, Allysen has a rather limited range of subjects. She'll talk about her cell phone calls, hair styles, and parties. Hmmm... remind you of anyone?

Also, unlike a computer connected talking Winnie the Pooh that came out about five years earlier, Allysen can NOT learn your child's name. She has about four or five "nicknames" from which your child may pick.

All in all, I would recommend the doll ONLY if you can find it at about 1/5 its normal resale price, and ONLY if your child is not prone to nightmares in the event that the toy malfunctions.
